Description
The Eastern-Inspired Dangerous Album Cover Tee draws inspiration from Michael Jackson’s 1991 album Dangerous. Created by Mark Ryden, the original cover is celebrated for its intricate, mysterious composition and dense network of symbolic details. It is also one of UnDeR20 founder TenGuSan’s favorite album visuals.
TenGuSan photographed a large mural of Michael Jackson’s eyes on a street in Los Angeles and used that image as the starting point for the design. Through AI and digital post-production, he reconstructed the Dangerous cover using an Eastern visual language. Traces of the original photograph, including the windows and wall surfaces, were deliberately preserved, keeping the final image connected to a real urban location.
The composition retains the symmetry of the original artwork while replacing its Western religious, courtly, and industrial imagery with elements drawn from Chinese visual culture. Peking opera figures, dragons and tigers, glazed roof tiles, palace lanterns, cranes, auspicious clouds, traditional New Year imagery, lotus flowers, and koi form a symbolic system associated with strength, authority, elegance, good fortune, and prosperity.
At the center, a traditional Chinese landscape scroll and the Great Wall create a visual journey from the city into mountains and an imagined realm beyond. The theatrical machinery and spectacle of the original cover are transformed into an Eastern spiritual landscape, reflecting the way Michael Jackson’s music continues to cross linguistic and cultural boundaries.

UnDeR20 Story
UnDeR20 was founded on January 23, 2021 by the artist, TenGuSan. Since its establishment, we have been dedicated to the design and release of original toys, which have been widely recognized across Asia, in particular, Japan and China. In 2023, we started our own clothing and accessories lines because we felt that we couldn't find clothes that truly excited us anymore. So we are going to create them ourselves.
From toys to streetwear, just like our name suggests, we have always been "under 20 years old." We uphold our slogan, "Wandering Soul, Untamed Heart." We gather artists from around the world and always stand with the "wildest" young people. A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having, right?
