Description
The Japanese Wit Tee draws inspiration from a set of Japanese parody images that UnDeR20 founder TenGuSan first encountered during high school. Presented with the precision of an instructional manual or anatomical movement chart, the images systematically document thirty absurd bodily poses. Their clean lines, consistent proportions, and carefully ordered layout contrast sharply with the crude, nonsensical subject matter, creating a distinctly Japanese form of deadpan humor.
UnDeR20 redrew the entire image set, refining the linework, proportions, and visual rhythm while adding original details, including the brand name. The design preserves the central contradiction of the source material: it resembles a meticulously organized training guide, yet the poses it presents are awkward, useless, and deliberately ridiculous.
The humor lies in the tension between form and content. The more seriously the images are arranged, the more absurd the actions become. No verbal explanation is required—the visual contradiction delivers the joke directly. Those familiar with this kind of deadpan humor may immediately recognize it, while others can simply read the design as a strange yet carefully constructed catalogue of bodily movements.

UnDeR20 Story
UnDeR20 was founded on January 23, 2021 by the artist, TenGuSan. Since its establishment, we have been dedicated to the design and release of original toys, which have been widely recognized across Asia, in particular, Japan and China. In 2023, we started our own clothing and accessories lines because we felt that we couldn't find clothes that truly excited us anymore. So we are going to create them ourselves.
From toys to streetwear, just like our name suggests, we have always been "under 20 years old." We uphold our slogan, "Wandering Soul, Untamed Heart." We gather artists from around the world and always stand with the "wildest" young people. A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having, right?
